Copycat Vegan Kitkat

I don’t know about you, but for me Kitkat was an absolute favorite. I loved the crunch of the wafers with the melt-in-the-mouth chocolate coating. After going vegan, this is one of the things I have been missing terribly. Well to be honest, I waited for Nestle to come up with a vegan version for so long. They did come up with it, but it’s only available in the UK for now.

Since I can’t justify traveling to UK to buy a chocolate, I decided to make my own knock-off vegan kitkat. I’m genuinely shocked at how amazingly close this recipe is interms of taste and texture.

I can’t wait for you to try this hack and see what you think.

Equipment

  • 1 Microwave Safe Bowl
  • 1 Piping Bag

Ingredients

  • 6 Any Vegan Vanilla Wafers
  • 1 cup Vegan Milk or Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 1 tbsp Vegan Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Cornstarch

Instructions

Prepping the Wafers

  • Microwave 1 wafer for 30 seconds. Pull apart each individual layer of the wafer.
    6 Any Vegan Vanilla Wafers
  • Using the butter knife, scrape off all the vanilla filling.
  • Slice each layer of the wafer into half lengthwise.
  • Repeat with all wafers. Set them aside

Preparing the chocolate coating

  • Add chocolate chips, butter and cornstarch to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 2 minutes or until the chocolates melt and form a shiny ganache. Keep checking every 30 seconds to avoid burning the chocolate.
1 cup Vegan Milk or Dark Chocolate Chips, 1 tbsp Vegan Butter, 1/2 tsp Cornstarch
  • Transfer the melted chocolate into a piping bag.
  • On a parchment paper or a butter paper, apply a layer of chocolate and put a wafer on it. Alernate the chocolate and wafer layers three more times.
  • Pipe chocolate around the sides of the arranged wafers.
  • Chill the wafers in refrigerator until the chocolate sets and enjoy!
