Malai Kofta
The Malai Kofta of your dreams!
Ingredients
Kofta Balls
- 2 cups Grated Tofu
- 2 cups Boiled Potato
- 5 tbsp Almond Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tbsp Cumin Powder
- 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tbsp Paprika / Chilli Powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric
- 1/2 cup Chopped Onions
Gravy
- 2 tbsp Neutral Oil
- 1 cup Onion Puree
- 1/4 cup Chopped Onions
- 2 cups Tomato Puree
- 1/2 cup Cashew Cream
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 1/2 tbsp Chilli Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Kasuri Methi
Whole Spices
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 2 Cardamom Pods
- 1 Star Anise
- 1 Mace
Garnish
- Fresh Chopped Cilantro / Coriander Leaves
- Cashew Cream
Instructions
For Koftas
- Combine all ingredients for kofta and form a nice dough.
- Shape them into balls, either deep fry them or bake them at 350F for 40 minutes, flip them halfway.
- Keep them aside and make the gravy.
Gravy
- Heat a saucepan, add oil. Roast the whole spices until fragrant.
- Add in onion puree, chopped onions, ginger garlic paste and cook until the raw smell is gone.
- Add the tomato puree and cook for another 10 minutes until the tomato is fully cooked.
- Add the rest of the ingredients, add water if needed and let the sauce/gravy simmer for 30 minutes on very low flame.
- Keep stirring every couple minutes and add water as needed.
- Add in the baked/fried koftas, garnish with cashew cream and coriander.
Serving
- Serve with warm naan or rice.
